GIM is a well-accredited PGDM (the diploma most people call its MBA) with steady placements, three sharp specialisations and a strong residential campus. Pros of the GIM MBA (PGDM) in 2027<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Accreditations that travel well<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GIM holds AACSB and AMBA-BGA accreditation, plus NBA accreditation for its eligible flagship programmes. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE<\/mark><\/a>) approves its PGDM. GIM says only 11 Indian business schools hold both AACSB and AMBA-BGA, and you can check this on its accreditations page<\/mark><\/a>. These credentials help if you plan to work or study abroad, because recruiters and universities there recognise them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Placements you can verify<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GIM publishes a placement report for every programme and lists every student placed, with reports going back to 2021. The 2026 PGDM batch posted a \u20b915 lakh median and a \u20b916.27 lakh average, and more than 110 companies visited campus. The full numbers sit in the placements section below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Specialisations with a clear job market<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the flagship PGDM, GIM offers Healthcare Management (HCM), Big Data Analytics (BDA) and Banking, Insurance & Financial Services (BIFS). HCM and BIFS accept graduates from any background, so you do not need a medical or commerce degree. BDA includes a five-month internship-based project at a business organisation, which gives you hands-on analytics work before you graduate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. A national, mixed peer group<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the 2024-26 PGDM batch, 46% of students were freshers, and the rest brought 1 to 48+ months of experience. GIM’s NIRF 2026 data submission<\/mark><\/a> also shows that 1,118 of its 1,184 students come from outside Goa, so you study with people from across India. You learn from classmates who have run teams, sold products and audited accounts, and GIM sets no minimum work-experience rule, so freshers are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. A full residential campus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GIM runs a roughly 50-acre, fully residential campus. The library stays open 24 hours, and the campus has hostels and sports facilities, so most of your daily life happens in one place. Student reviews on a large public portal rate infrastructure and campus life at 4.6 out of 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Selection that looks beyond your score<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GIM runs an Achiever’s Round that shortlists candidates on achievements first, before it weighs CAT, XAT or GMAT scores. Strong records in academics, sports, co-curricular activities or work give you a real shot. Candidates of Goan domicile or origin can also receive up to 15 points of relaxation in the exam cutoff for interview shortlisting. A weak exam score still rules you out, and GIM says admission is purely merit-based, with no management quota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cons of the GIM MBA (PGDM) in 2027<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. The price needs a strong placement to justify it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GIM’s academic fee runs past \u20b922 lakh before you add hostel and personal costs, and you can confirm the current figure on GIM’s official fee page<\/mark><\/a>. Your payback depends on where you land against the \u20b915 lakh median. A graduate in IT & Operations (\u20b918.1 lakh average) recovers the cost faster than one in HR (\u20b912.9 lakh average).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. The top offer says little about the typical offer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 2026 highest CTC of \u20b935 LPA is more than double the \u20b915 LPA median. The average of the top 100 students reached \u20b920.68 LPA, well above the batch average of \u20b916.27 LPA, which tells you that pay bunches at the top of the class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Your pay depends on your domain and programme<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The PGDM report lists average packages of \u20b918.1 LPA in IT & Operations, \u20b917 LPA in Finance, \u20b916 LPA in Marketing and \u20b912.9 LPA in HR. Programme medians differ too: HCM graduates reported \u20b913 LPA against \u20b915 LPA for the flagship PGDM. Pick your domain with these numbers in front of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. The campus is remote<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GIM sits in Poriem, Sattari, in the interior of North Goa, away from the main cities and airports. Student life centres on the campus, so expect fewer city outings and longer trips for interviews, internships or family visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. It is a diploma, and the national rank is solid rather than elite<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

GIM awards a PGDM, and the AICTE approves it, but the qualification is a diploma from an autonomous institute, not a university degree. Check the rules of any government job or doctoral programme you may want later. The National Institutional Ranking Framework<\/mark><\/a> ranked GIM 43rd in Management in 2025, which is a respectable national position but not a top-ten brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Students rate value for money lowest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On the same review portal, students score value for money at 3.2 out of 5, well below infrastructure and campus life. Reviewers also describe the course as demanding. GIM does not refund fees if you discontinue the programme, so make your decision before you pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial services led hiring at 25.38%, followed by IT at 15.91%, banking at 12.88%, consulting at 12.5% and FMCG at 12.5%. Summer internships also pay. For the 2025-27 PGDM batch, 47 recruiters took part, and 20 of them were new to campus. GIM reports a highest stipend of \u20b93,00,000, an average of \u20b91,06,307 and a median of \u20b91,00,000, all for a two-month internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
