I sorted every rule into three groups: what IIMB confirms in its published documents, what test centres routinely enforce, and what only your admit card can settle. You will always know how much weight a tip deserves.

IIMB UG 2026 Exam at a Glance

Start with the facts IIMB itself publishes. The table below pulls them from the official admissions page, the FAQ document and the admission procedure document.

Detail

What IIMB publishes

Test date

15 November 2026

Test mode

Computer-based test

Questions

60 multiple-choice questions

Total time

135 minutes

Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation (QADI)

30 questions, 1 hour

Logical Reasoning (LR)

15 questions, 45 minutes

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC)

15 questions, 30 minutes

Syllabus

NCERT syllabus up to Class XII

Negative marking

Yes (confirm the exact scheme in your test instructions)

Test location

Centres within India only

Results

15 December 2026 (tentative)

Interviews

2nd and 3rd week of January 2027 (tentative)

IIMB’s admissions page still calls the test date tentative. Watch the portal until your admit card confirms it.

Also Read: IIMB UG Last-Minute Preparation Strategy: What to Revise Before November 15

Which “2026” Do You Mean?

IIMB’s portal calls this exam the “UG Admissions Test 2026” and the intake “UG Admissions 2027” (batch 2027–31). Some blogs label the same exam “IIMB UG 2027”. Others still describe the previous cycle, when IIMB released the admit card on 3 December 2025 and ran the test on 13 December 2025. Those details don’t apply to you. If a page quotes them, skip it.

What IIMB Confirms, and What Your Admit Card Decides

IIMB’s public FAQ and admission procedure cover eligibility, format, fees and dates. They don’t print a detailed entry checklist. IIMB sends that through your admit card and the instructions at the centre. Both sit behind your applicant login, so I couldn’t read them. Many blogs fill the gap with a confident list and present it as IIMB’s rule. This article labels each rule so you can tell the difference:

Confirmed by IIMB: dates, format, section timings, India-only test centres.

Standard centre practice: ID checks, metal detectors, bans on phones and notes.

Your admit card decides: reporting time, the exact ID list, photo requirements, permitted items.

If any tip here clashes with your admit card, follow the admit card.

Last cycle, IIMB released the admit card ten days before the test. Download yours the day it appears, through the “UG Admissions Test 2026 Login” link on the official IIMB UG admissions page, and print it straight away.

Documents to Carry to the IIMB UG Exam Centre

Pack your documents in a transparent folder the night before.

Document

Do you need it?

What to know

Printed admit card

Yes, every candidate

Print two clean copies. The name must match your IIMB application. Your admit card lists the IDs the centre accepts.

Passport-size photographs

Only if your admit card says so

Carry them only when the instructions ask.

Category certificate

Only if you applied under a reserved category

Keep the original in your folder.

Disability certificate and UDID card

Only if you have one

Keep both originals in your folder.

Photo ID: Match the Name, Carry the Original

Your ID name must match the name on your IIMB application. If a spelling differs, write to the IIMB admissions team before test day, not at the gate. Check the expiry date too. Then pick one valid ID and carry the original. Candidates commonly use these, but your admit card has the final list:

Aadhaar card (the UIDAI website explains how to get it)

Passport (see the Passport Seva portal)

Voter ID (see the Election Commission voter portal)

PAN card

Driving licence

If you lost your original, you can download an official digital copy from the issuing site. Ask IIMB whether your centre accepts a printed copy before you rely on it. Carry a second original ID as a backup if you have one.

If You Need Support at the Centre

IIMB lists the disability certificate and UDID card among its admission documents for applicants with disabilities. Carry the originals to the centre. You can learn about the UDID card on the government’s UDID portal. If you need any support on test day, email the admissions team at ugadmissions@iimb.ac.in or call 080-26993940/41 well before 15 November. Don’t wait until you reach the gate.

IIMB UG Exam Day Dress Code: What to Wear

I found no dress code in IIMB’s published admission documents. Your admit card may include one, and it overrides my advice. Until you read it, dress for a security check and a 135-minute sit.

Choose this

Skip this

Why

Light shirt, kurta or T-shirt with simple buttons

Heavy jackets, hoodies, scarves

Staff may ask you to remove bulky layers, and they slow the check. Carry a medical note if you need a layer for health reasons.

Slip-on shoes or sandals

Boots, thick-soled shoes

Staff can check simple footwear quickly.

Plain trousers or salwar with few pockets

Cargo pants, big belt buckles, long zips, metal buttons

Metal sets off detectors and invites extra checks.

Bare wrists and ears

Watches, metal jewellery, hairpins, lockets, amulets

Metal triggers detectors, and centres ban smartwatches outright. Many also ban ordinary watches.

Breathable, comfortable fabric

Tight or stiff clothes

You will sit still for more than two hours.

If your faith requires a head covering or other attire, tell the centre staff when you arrive. Reach early so staff can check you without rushing.

Items You Cannot Carry Into the Exam Hall

IIMB runs a computer-based test, so centre security targets electronics, notes and anything that stores information. Treat this list as standard practice and let your admit card have the last word.

Item

Why centres ban it

What to do instead

Mobile phones

They store and send information

Leave yours at home or with a family member outside

Smartwatches and fitness bands

Same risk as phones

Leave them at home

Earphones and Bluetooth devices

They carry audio and data

Leave them at home

Calculators, including watch calculators

Centres routinely bar them

Practise mental maths; check the official mock for any on-screen tools

Notes, books and loose papers

They count as study material

Revise before you leave; keep your pockets empty

Bags, pouches and wallets

They slow security and invite storage problems

Carry only your document folder and a little cash

Food and opaque bottles

They can hide material

Eat before you leave; if your admit card allows water, carry a clear bottle without a label

Electronic key fobs and other gadgets

They can record or transmit

Hand them to a family member

Your own pens, pencil boxes and geometry boxes

Centres often supply their own rough-work material

Bring them only if your admit card says so

Where Do Your Belongings Go?

Don’t count on a cloakroom. Some centres offer no secure storage. Leave your phone, bag and valuables at home or with a family member who waits outside.

Found a Banned Item in Your Pocket?

Tell the staff at the first checkpoint. Centres can treat a banned item found inside the hall as unfair means, and that can end your attempt.

Your Exam-Day Plan, Step by Step

The Night Before

Reread your admit card: centre address, reporting time and instructions.

Pack your folder: two admit card copies, original ID and any extra documents.

Lay out clothes without metal parts.

Check your route on a map. If you travel from another town, arrive the day before.

Go to bed on time. A rested mind beats an extra hour of revision.

On the Morning of the Test

Eat a light, familiar breakfast.

Leave early and add a traffic buffer. Aim to reach the centre before the reporting time on your admit card.

Keep your admit card and ID in your hand, not at the bottom of a folder.

At the Centre

Expect a document check, a metal-detector check and possibly biometric or photo capture. Most computer-based centres run these steps.

Follow the staff’s directions calmly. Ask them if you feel unsure about anything.

In the Hall

Check your screen for your name, photo and roll number. Tell the invigilator immediately if anything looks wrong.

Read the on-screen instructions fully before you start.

Pace each section. IIMB lists 1 hour for QADI, 45 minutes for LR and 30 minutes for VARC. Check the instructions to see how the screen moves you between sections.

Skip wild guesses. IIMB confirms negative marking.

Follow the invigilator’s directions on rough work and leaving the hall.

Practise the Interface Before You Walk In

IIMB posts an official mock test link on its admissions page. Take it at least once under timed conditions. Watch the portal and your admit card for confirmation.

What documents must I carry to the IIMB UG exam?

Carry a printed admit card and an original photo ID that matches your application. Bring passport-size photos, category certificates or your UDID card only when your admit card or situation calls for them.

Does IIMB publish a dress code for the UG test?

IIMB’s published admission documents list no dress code. Read your admit card first. Then wear light, simple clothes without heavy metal parts.

Can I carry a calculator to the IIMB UG exam?

Plan on no. Test centres routinely bar calculators and phones. Check your admit card for the final rule, and practise on IIMB’s official mock test to see what the screen offers.

Can I take water or food into the exam hall?

Eat before you leave home. If your admit card allows water, carry a clear bottle without a label.

What happens if I arrive late?

Your admit card prints the reporting time, and centres can close entry once that window ends. Treat the printed time as final and aim to reach the centre well before it.

What should I do if I lose my admit card or ID?

Log in to the IIMB portal and download your admit card again. For ID problems, contact the IIMB admissions team at ugadmissions@iimb.ac.in or 080-26993940/41 right away. Carry a second original ID as a backup.

Can I take the IIMB UG test from outside India?

No. IIMB’s FAQ says applicants can take the undergraduate entrance test only at centres within India.

Conclusion

You can’t control the paper, but you can control your morning. Print the admit card, pack the original ID, dress light, leave the gadgets behind and treat your admit card as the final word. These IIMB UG 2026 exam day guidelines give you the plan, and the official IIMB UG admissions page and FAQ give you the facts that can change. Take the official mock, add timed practice at CATMOCK, and walk into the centre ready.
