Candidates from all academic backgrounds, including Engineering, Commerce, Science, Arts, and Humanities, are eligible to apply. However, admission to individual colleges will depend on their specific eligibility requirements and selection criteria. The CMAT cutoff refers to the minimum score or percentile required by participating MBA and PGDM institutes to shortlist candidates for the next stages of admission, such as Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test (WAT), and Personal Interview (PI). Unlike the CMAT exam itself, there is no common cutoff announced by NTA; each institute independently determines its cutoff based on factors such as the number of applicants, seat availability, difficulty level of the exam, and previous admission trends. Generally, top CMAT-accepting colleges require higher percentiles, while many reputable management institutes offer admissions at moderate cutoff levels. Therefore, candidates should aim for the highest possible score to maximize their chances of securing admission to their preferred MBA program. Since CMAT scores are used by numerous institutions across India, cutoff requirements can vary significantly from one college to another. There is no official CMAT 2026 cutoff released by NTA, because CMAT is only the exam-conducting body. Each college announces its own cutoff during the admission process. Based on recent admission cycles, here are the expected CMAT 2026 cutoff percentiles category-wise for CMAT-accepting institutes:
| College | General | OBC | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JBIMS (CMAT Seats) | 99.9+ | 99+ | 95+ | 90+ |
| K J Somaiya Institute of Management | 95β98 | 90β95 | 75β85 | 70β80 |
| Great Lakes Institute of Management | 90β95 | 85β90 | 70β80 | 65β75 |
| Welingkar Institute of Management | 85β90 | 80β85 | 65β75 | 65β75 |
| Goa Institute of Management | 95β98 | 90β95 | 75β85 | 70β80 |
CMAT scores are accepted by a large number of AICTE-approved management institutes, universities, and business schools across India for admission to MBA, PGDM, and other postgraduate management programs. The exam serves as a gateway to several reputed institutions offering quality management education, strong placement opportunities, and diverse specializations. Since the National Testing Agency (NTA) only conducts the examination and provides the CMAT score, each participating institute independently determines its admission criteria, cutoff percentile, and selection process. Candidates can use their CMAT scores to apply to colleges ranging from top-tier business schools with highly competitive cutoffs to emerging institutes offering excellent return on investment (ROI). This makes CMAT one of the most widely accepted and accessible MBA entrance exams in India for management aspirants.
