NMAT 2026 Exam Day Guidelines for Test Centre Candidates
Reporting Time
GMAC’s test-centre rules require candidates to arrive at least 45 minutes before their appointment. According to GMAC’s FAQ, candidates who arrive more than 15 minutes late may be denied entry and forfeit the full exam fee. During check-in, centre staff capture each candidate’s digital photograph and signature. The centre also monitors the entire exam through video surveillance.
Documents to Carry
| Document | What GMAC requires |
|---|---|
| Admit card | A fresh copy for every attempt, downloaded from your dashboard, with a recent, clearly recognisable photo |
| Photo ID (one) | Valid, original and non-expired, showing your name and a recent photo: Aadhaar, Indian passport, PAN card, Voter’s ID or driver’s license |
| Confirmation email | Shown on your phone or as a printout |
| Disability documents | Only if GMAC advised them for your accommodation |
Your name on the admit card must match your ID. If you cannot show a valid ID and your admit card, you won’t be admitted, and the fee is not refunded. If the photo on your admit card is blank or unclear, email nmatsupport@gmac.com before exam day.

What the Centre Provides
You don’t need to bring rough paper. The invigilator hands you two rough sheets and a disposable pen, and you tear the sheets in front of the invigilator when you leave. Study material and phones stay out of reach, even during breaks.
What Happens Inside the NMAT 2026 Exam
Check-in, NDA and Section Order
After check-in, the staff will assign you a seat. You’ll then see a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) on your screen. Click “Yes, I Accept” within 2 minutes to continue. If you decline twice or fail to respond within the time limit, GMAC will end your exam, cancel your attempt and forfeit your fee. Once you accept the agreement, you can choose the order in which you want to attempt the sections.
| Section | Questions | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Language Skills | 36 | 28 minutes |
| Quantitative Skills | 36 | 52 minutes |
| Logical Reasoning | 36 | 40 minutes |
| Total | 108 | 120 minutes |
Time left in one section is not added to the next, and you can’t go back to earlier questions within a section.
Breaks and Technical Problems
- Breaks: There are no scheduled breaks. You can take an unscheduled break, but the clock keeps running, and you must leave the room and show your ID on re-entry.
- Computer fault: Tell the Test Administrator at once. Your answers are saved and the test resumes from the same point.
- Question issue: Carry on with the test and report it to the administrator.
After the Exam: NMAT 2026 Scorecard and Next Steps
You can see an unofficial scorecard at the centre after you submit. The official scorecard arrives within 48 hours by email notification, subject to no test delivery incidents and completion of the audit. An exam with a security incident is audited, and its result is published in 10 working days. Candidates get up to three attempts, and a no-show counts as one.
If you plan a retake before 17 December, review your section-wise score first. Then work through previous year questions and NMAT mock tests. The NMAT exam details page also covers the syllabus.
Common NMAT 2026 Exam-Day Mistakes
| Mistake | Result | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Photocopied or expired ID | Not admitted; fee not refunded | Carry the original and check the expiry date |
| Name mismatch between admit card and ID | Identity can’t be verified | Compare both the night before |
| Arriving late | May be refused after 15 minutes; fee forfeited | Plan for 45 minutes early |
| Declining the NDA | Exam ends; attempt lost | Click “Yes, I Accept” |
| Taking a break casually | Clock keeps running | Take one only if essential |
