Which States Have the Most SNAP Test Centres?

Uttar Pradesh has the most SNAP test cities (9), followed by Maharashtra (7). Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala and Rajasthan have five each. Several smaller states and union territories have no SNAP city, so candidates there must pick the nearest city and plan travel. Candidates travel at their own cost. The bulletin states that travel and stay arrangements are the candidate’s responsibility.

SIU can add, remove or change cities without prior notice. Check the official SNAP test cities page before you pay.

Test City vs Test Centre: What Is the Difference?

Many aspirants search for SNAP test centres and expect a street-level list. SNAP does not publish one.

  • Test city: the city you choose while registering. This is what the list above shows.
  • Test centre: the exact venue. SIU prints the test centre, its address and your test timing on the admit card.

So the 79-city list tells you where you can sit the exam, and your admit card tells you which building to walk into. Your admit card is the only reliable source for the SNAP exam venue.

How SNAP Centre Allotment Works in 2026

SNAP does not run a merit-based or rank-based allotment. It follows a simple rule: first come, first served.

  1. Register on snaptest.org and fill in your personal and academic details.
  2. Decide your test dates first. The official page advises choosing your tests before registering, because computer-based test centres have limited capacity.
  3. Select your test date and test city from the options shown.
  4. Pay the SNAP fee early. SNAP says the earlier you pay, the better your chance of getting your preferred date and city.
  5. Wait for your admit card and check the allotted centre address.

What If Your Preferred City Is Full?

SIU can allot a different city, usually a nearby one, if your requested city has no seats. The official page says SIU makes every effort to honour preferences but reserves the right to allot another city.

Can You Change Your SNAP Test City After Paying?

No. SIU entertains no request for a change of test date or city after you pay the registration fee. Double-check both before you pay.

Which SNAP Test City and Date Should You Choose?

Use this simple framework before you click “Pay”.

  • Pick the nearest city with the easiest travel. A shorter commute lowers exam-day stress more than any prep trick.
  • Avoid a long train or road journey on the morning of the test. Attempting SNAP after a night journey hurts accuracy in a 60-question, speed-driven test.
  • Pair your city with a date you can prepare for. With three tests and a “best score counts” rule, many candidates attempt more than one date. A second attempt in a different city adds travel cost, so choose cities you can reach easily.
  • Book travel only after your admit card is live unless your city is far away, because SIU can allot a nearby city instead.

Use the gap before 13 December to practise under exam conditions. CATMOCK offers SNAP full-length mock tests and sectional tests, plus SNAP previous year papers, so you can rehearse the 60-minute format before you sit at the centre.

SNAP Exam Centre Rules on Test Day

  • Reach on time. Report at the time printed on your admit card. The bulletin says late candidates cannot enter after the gates close.
  • Scout the centre early. SIU advises candidates to locate their test centre at least one day in advance.
  • Stay seated. You cannot leave the test hall until the test ends, and you cannot re-enter after submitting.
  • Keep your authenticated admit card. SIU does not issue a duplicate if you lose it, and you need it for the GE-PI stage.
  • Follow the section freedom. You can attempt sections in any order.

Common SNAP Centre Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Treating the city as the centre. Always wait for the admit card address.
  2. Paying late. The longer you wait, the fewer city and date options remain.
  3. Registering without a test plan. Capacity is limited, so decide your dates first.
  4. Forgetting the programme fee. The SNAP fee alone does not make you eligible for shortlisting. You also pay ₹1,000 per programme.
  5. Carrying a digital ID. Only original photo IDs work.
  6. Discarding the stamped admit card. You need it for later admission stages.
