What Is SNAP?
SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test) is a national-level MBA exam conducted by Symbiosis International University for admission into MBA and PGDM programmes offered by Symbiosis institute across India. It is one of the most popular MBA entrance exams after CAT and XAT. SNAP is also known for short duration exam, speed-based questions, moderate difficulty level, multiple attempts opportunity, to get admission into top Symbiosis Colleges. It is conducted three times a year, typically in December, and has been in online mode since 2017. SNAP 2026 EXAM PATTERN:
The SNAP exam is designed to test speed, accuracy, logical thinking, and aptitude skills. Candidates can appear for all three sessions of SNAP in a single year, and only the best percentile is considered — giving you multiple chances to put your best foot forward.
There are three sections:
- General English – It consists of total 15 questions.
- Analytical & Logical Reasoning – It consists of total 25 questions.
- Quantitative Aptitude, DI & DS – It consists of total 20 questions.
- In 60 minutes, you answer total 60 questions.
- Every correct answer earns you 1 mark.
- Every wrong answer cost you 0.25 marks.
It’s clean, it’s structured, and it rewards accuracy alongside speed. The exam is conducted in online proctored mode. You are required to log into the exam portal at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time.
TIP – Each section likely has its own time allocation, so you can’t spend all 60 minutes on Reasoning and ignore English — manage your pace section by section.

Good news: SNAP’s syllabus isn’t dramatically different from CAT or other OMETs. If you’ve been preparing for any major MBA entrance exam, you’re already covering most of this ground. Eligibility Criteria for SNAP 2026?
The eligibility criteria for SNAP are fairly straightforward and broad, which is great news for aspirants from varied academic backgrounds. Here’s what you need to qualify:
Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. Whether you’re an engineer, a commerce graduate, or from humanities — SNAP doesn’t discriminate by stream.
Minimum Aggregate: 50% marks in graduation for General and OBC category candidates. 45% marks for SC/ST category candidates. No rounding off — a 49.9% doesn’t qualify under general category rules.
Final-Year Students: If you’re in your final year of graduation, you can still apply — but your admission will be conditional on meeting the minimum percentage requirement once your results are declared.
Number of Attempts: There is no cap on the number of years you can attempt SNAP. You can try every year. Within a given year, you can attempt all 3 sessions.
Age Limit: SIU does not specify any upper age limit for SNAP. The exam is open to all graduates who meet the academic eligibility criteria.
Nationality: Both Indian nationals and foreign nationals (with valid study permits) may apply. NRI and foreign student categories may have slightly different criteria per institute.
SNAP 2026 Admission Process:
The admission process generally includes One of the things that trips up many SNAP aspirants is the multi-step nature of the admission process. Unlike some exams where a score alone gets you in, SNAP is just the first gate. Here’s the full journey from registration to getting your offer letter:
1. Register on snaptest.org
Create your SNAP profile, fill in personal and academic details, upload a passport-size photo (not older than 3 months), and pay the SNAP exam registration fee. This registration allows you to attempt up to 3 sessions. Note: there is no form correction facility — fill everything accurately the first time.
2. Apply to Individual SIU Institutes
This is a separate step many candidates forget. Beyond the SNAP registration, you need to apply independently to each Symbiosis institute you’re interested in and pay the institute-specific program fee. Not doing this means even a great SNAP score won’t get you shortlisted by that college.
3. Download Your Admit Card
Log into your SNAP portal about 1–2 weeks before your exam session. Your admit card will list your exam date, time slot, and exam centre details. Print it and carry it along with a valid photo ID on exam day.
4. Appear for SNAP (Up to 3 Times)
All three sessions are held in December. You can choose to appear for one, two, or all three. Your best percentile across attempts is your official SNAP 2026 score. Log in 15 minutes early. Carry a physical admit card printout and a valid ID.
5. Results & Shortlisting
Results are typically declared in January. You’ll be able to view your sectional scores, overall score, and percentile by logging into the SNAP portal. Each institute you applied to will then release its own shortlist of candidates called for GE-WAT-PI — these will come via email and the institute portal.
6. GE-WAT-PI Rounds (February–March)
Group Exercise (GE): A group discussion-style round where you’re assessed on communication, leadership, and collaborative thinking. Written Ability Test (WAT): A short essay on a topic given on the spot — tests your analytical thinking and written expression. Personal Interaction (PI): A one-on-one interview with faculty, assessing your motivation, career goals, personality, and fit for the program.
7. Final Merit List & Offer Letter
The final merit list is computed as: SNAP Score (50%) + GE + WAT + PI performance (combined 50%). If you make it, an offer letter is sent to your registered email. You’ll need to confirm your seat by paying the programme fee within the deadline — failing to do so forfeits your seat.

What Determines the Cutoff?
The cutoff is not a fixed number — it shifts every year based on: the overall difficulty level of that year’s paper, the total number of candidates who appeared, category-wise reservations (SC/ST/OBC/Pwd candidates generally have cutoffs 5–10 percentile lower), and the number of seats available at each institute. A tougher paper generally means a lower cutoff; a bumper year for applicants pushes cutoffs up.

Preparing for SNAP doesn’t require months of monastic study. But it does require smart, focused effort in the right areas. Here’s what actually makes a difference:

2.Own Logical Reasoning First
With 25 marks on the line, Logical Reasoning is non-negotiable. Spend 40–50% of your prep time here. Drill seating arrangements and scheduling puzzles daily — they appear in almost every SNAP paper.
3.Read Every Day for English
The Hindu editorials, Economist articles, and quality English novels are your vocabulary gym. 20 minutes of active reading daily beats 3 hours of passive vocab cramming. Note new words and use them in sentences.
4.Stick to Basics for Quant
SNAP Quant is not CAT Quant. You don’t need advanced permutation-combination or probability mastery. Nail Arithmetic, Percentages, Ratio-Proportion, and basic Algebra — that covers most of the section.
